"Sur
Caribe" is a Band from Santiago de Cuba whose name comes from the
geographic position of this beautiful city on the South of the Island
bathed by the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea . The Band and Ricardo
Leyva, its Director, joined their destinies since 1987. Shortly
after, this Band achieved great popularity, keeping, so far, a high
level of communication between its musicians and the audience.
The Band is composed of young musicians
from Santiago de Cuba graduated from the Schools of Music of the
City who have a high technical level and are very professionals.
They play all the genders of the so called Popular Cuban Music as
well as Caribbean and Latin American Rhythms. Besides, they can
also accompany soloists, play in shows or split themselves into
small formats of traditional music.
Currently, "Sur Caribe" is among
the first Bands in the country both in popularity and dancers´
acceptance who feel comfortable with the new sound of Sur Caribe
who have proved they can face anything Con

Its Director, Ricardo Leyva, is
a prolific composer who gives the Band the best of the works of
its Repertoire.
Excellent musician , Ricardo Leyva
is also a producer. Many of his woks have participated and awarded
in different National Competitive Contests on Composition and Interpretation. |
